Just who are The RockDoctors™, and what do they do? We are The RockDoctors™: Michael Rocchio and Jaime Vendera. Between us we have over 50 years of singing and performance experience. No, we’re not ancient artifacts, or national treasures. We are, however, seasoned, professional musicians who’ve made a life study of vocal, and performance techniques through self-experimentation, teaching, and most importantly, performing.

While it’s true we’ve both studied at prestigious schools, we come from very different musical worlds. Rock’s roots are in rock and roll (I dare you to say that five times fast), but he went legit on us and studied classic Bel Canto, and operatic vocal techniques at Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. He went on to perform with some of the finest symphony orchestras, choral music organizations and opera theatres. His rock and roll heart never left him, though. A lifelong bassist, he never stopped jamming. When his classical music aspirations wore thin, Rock came back to his rock roots. He continues to perform, and for good bucks I might add, with a kick-ass, ten piece horn-driven classic rock band called Nonstop, www.nonstoprock.net out of St. Louis, MO. He handles a lot of lead and backing vocals, too. His expansive range allows him to cover any vocal part from the lowest bass line to upper tenor. His voice is so powerful, he hardly needs a microphone, and he never ends the night with a larynx that resembles rare beef fajitas. Through his own experience he came to realize the natural connection and cross-beneficial relationship between operatic techniques and rock and how to apply them. Rock is also a well-pedigreed business consultant, personal & professional effectiveness coach, and licensed financial services consultant. He has consulted Fortune 100 companies as well as small businesses.

Jaime, a born performer who started singing at age three, studied at The Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA, and holds a certificate from The Vocal Institute of Technology. However, he says most of his musical education came from getting kicked around some. He learned his profession as he went often straight from the source…the rock stars he idolized, many of whom had strong backgrounds in classical voice training. Hmmm. Interesting. His passion for the music grew into a passion for knowing the how and why of rock singing. He’s been a respected vocal coach for over fifteen years, and is the author of “Raise Your Voice”, “The Ultimate Breathing Workout”, “Voice Rx”, and “Vocal Mindset” to name but a few. Jaime is also well known world wide as the guy who shattered a crystal wine glass with only his un-amplified voice on Discovery Channel’s ‘Mythbusters’ program; a record breaking achievement. As it did for Rock, over the years it became apparent to Jaime that a healthy, powerful rock vocal technique is at its most fundamental underpinnings rooted in age-old, tried and true classic vocal techniques.

I’m sure there’s more than one of you who’s wondering how classical vocal technique could possibly have any connection with, or be of any value for rock singing. We’ve asked ourselves that same question thousands of times. Fortunately, we’ve found the answers and are sharing them with the rest of the rock world.

What do The RockDoctors™ do? We teach rock singers how to develop killer tone, enviable range, awesome power & sheer stamina…without ruining their voices. In addition, we coach rising rock stars toward quantum leaps in their performance artistry, and business skills, such as marketing, communications, financial management, and negotiation, so as to ensure their long-term success as an artist, and to keep from getting eaten by the wolves. In short, we provide multi-faceted rock singer and rock band development designed to help them achieve their artistic and financial dreams.
