Jaime knew from his years of study and observation through teaching hundreds of students that although he had developed ways sing higher, louder, longer and stronger AND sing with grit without any fear of vocal loss, that most students problems still resulted from vocal tension prior to singing. He noticed that 9 out of 10 singers were not warming up or cooling down their voices properly. We are physical instruments and much like runner stretching out before a race, a singer MUST warm up before a vocal workout or performance.

Jaime himself had to have neck surgery due to herniated discs and noticed afterwards that it was really hard to sing. He tried typical warm up CDs but discovered that at this point, he needed an individual routine suited to his particular needs. No two singers are alike so although one singer might require an hour warm up two hours prior to their performance, another singer might only require 5-10 minute right before waling on stage.

So he created the Vocal Stress Release program; a series of stretches, reflexology techniques and specific exercises such as lip bubbles, resonant hums and gargling tone, in order to release all vocal tension that was designed to allow you to perform it at your needed time and pace. We all experience vocal tension, even without neck surgery. Most of our speaking voices keep us locked down in our throat (another subject that Jaime presents techniques to correct) thus creating tension even before we sing. The VSR program eliminates that unwanted stress and will help you sing better with more vocal freedom through the performance. After the performance, the vocal exercises from VSR can be performed to help cool down the voice. You need to give your voice sufficient time to return to speaking level. As performers, we are machines that require lots of energy. As speakers the energy is minimal so we don’t want to keep peaking our RMPs, we need to bring the levels down or else you’ll wake up with a sore throat. VSR eliminates this problem.
